10 Foods to Avoid when Dieting is very important

When going on a diet, you need to prepare yourself so that you can continue to be consistent and achieve the desired goals. Apart from taking the time to exercise regularly, you also need to pay attention to what you eat. One of the most common ways of dieting is a calorie deficit by controlling the various types of food consumed.

Calories are a unit of measure for energy. In general, calories can be defined as the energy needed by the body to work optimally, which can be obtained from the food and drinks we consume daily.

The amount of calories in each food varies, and each person's calorie needs also vary depending on their gender, age, and daily activities.

However, the effects of excess calories can lead to obesity and various organ damage. If you are currently on a diet program, you definitely need to reduce your daily calorie intake and keep your body active.

Well, you already know that the foods we often consume contain a lot of calories per one portion. If you're on a diet, know the following foods to avoid when dieting.

1. All kinds of crackers and chips

Although small, one cracker can contain up to 150 calories. Meanwhile, one packet of chips or the type of chips commonly found in minimarkets, contains 800 to 1000 calories.

2. Fast food

Fast food such as pizza and burgers are known to have quite high calories for one portion, which can trigger weight gain. One slice of pizza, for example, contains 270 calories.

3. Fried food

Various types of fried foods such as french fries, fried bananas, bakwan, and batagor, which are many people's favorite snacks, have quite high calories. For example, per 100 gr of fried banana has 252 calories, small fries has 360 calories, and for batagor per seed contains 58 calories.

4. Coconut milk food

Coconut milk-based foods are very closely related to the lives of us Indonesians. Opor, curry, Padang rice, and even desserts like compote are all tantalizing. But it is better to avoid or reduce the consumption of this menu while on a diet because it contains high fat.

5. Various sweets

Desserts and sweets are definitely in the category of foods that you should avoid while on a diet. Sweet foods have very high calories and sugar.

Just one piece of sweet martabak can contain up to 900 calories, especially if you add various toppings. Apart from martabak, other high-calorie sweet foods that we often consume and should be avoided when dieting are ice cream and birthday cakes.

6. Various sweet drinks

Apart from sugary foods, sugary drinks such as boba, bottled drinks, and sodas should also be avoided. The high sugar content in these drinks can lead to weight gain and obesity.

7. Fried rice

Fried rice is a favorite breakfast menu of most Indonesians. However, the processing of fried rice causes the rice to absorb all the oil which results in high calories and fat.

8. Instant noodles

This is another favorite for most people. Before consuming instant noodles, check the nutritional information on the back of the package. The calories contained in one packet are quite high. Start reducing, let's do it!

9. White bread

White bread combined with jam is one of the alternative choices for breakfast because it is quite practical. However, you should avoid this food while on a diet.

You can replace white bread with whole wheat bread or oats. Whole wheat bread is richer in fiber and will keep you full for longer.

10. Processed meat

Foods such as corned beef, sausages, nuggets, ham, are examples of processed meat foods. There are 172 calories in chicken sausage, 198 calories in corned beef, and 297 calories in chicken nuggets.

In addition, the processing of meat is done inappropriately and has also gone through the process of drying, fermentation, or canning. Thus, the nutrients in the meat are reduced.

Well, that's the list of 10 foods to avoid while dieting. You should avoid these foods when dieting because they have quite high calories. But still pay attention to your daily intake and nutrition, don't let the diet go too far.
